Introduction

AIRcable for Nextel provides a fast, convenient way of connecting Nextel cell phones to other Bluetooth devices, and it also supports a user accessible command line interface for configuration accessible from Java software. AIRcable for Nextel removes the need for physical connection, so you can run the same software that would support a physical cable. This product runs firmware—based onboard Bluetooth connection software and doesn't need to update the phones firmware. It is a Bluetooth 1.1 certified and is compatible with all other Bluetooth compatible devices.

The AIRcable for Nextel comes pre configured for incoming connections (dial-up). Authentication is enable which means the user has to type in a PIN code. The PIN code is the 5 digits at the end of the name “AIRcable 12345” when discovering the name of the Bluetooth device.

 

Installation

To activate the AIRcable device, follow the steps below:

  1. Connect the AIRcable to Nextel to the phone.
  2. The device has a connection LED (blue) that shows the status of connection. So, when the lights start blinking, the AIRcable for Nextel is waiting for an incoming connection. When the light is on, a connection to another device has been made active.
  3. Change you phone’s band rate to 115200 baud.
  4. For your PDA, discover the AIRcable for Nextel and create a new dial-up connection. For Nextel, use “S=2” as the phone number.

Description

AIRcable for Nextel device has all modem control support, including DTR, DSR, RI, and DCD. It also implements a RTS and CTS handshake. Additional transfer info: 115200 baud, 8 bit, parity: none, one stop bits. The transmitter power at antenna port is Class II – 10 meters range. Sensitivity of receiver is at 0.1% BER: -83dBm. The maximum received signal is at 0.1% BER: -5.0dBm. Maximum RF transmit power is 1dBm at Bluetooth frequency and the RF power control range is 30 dB

Operating temperature: -20 to 85 C, Humidity: 5% to 95% non condensing, storage temperature: -40 to 95 C.

Regulatory Compliance

The AIRcable device is designed to be compliant with the rules and regulations in locations where they are sold and will be labeled as required. This product is type approved- users are not required to obtain license or authorization before using.

Radio Frequency Interference Requirements

This device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules. Operation is subject to the following conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

This equipment is also ETS 300 328, ETS 300 826, and C-TICK compliant. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment.

This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference, in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at his or her own expense.

This equipment generates and radiates radio-frequency energy. To comply with the FCC RF exposure compliance requirements, the following antenna and device operating configurations must be satisfied: (1) Users are not permitted to make changes or modify the system in any way, and (2) connecting external antennas to the card is prohibited. Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
